STORY OF GORAKH BABA

Once roaming around  the place the Yogiraj Gorkhnath reached the Jwlamukhi Shrine. In that period, devotees used to sacrifice animals regularly at the temple. When he reached the Devi's temple the appeared at the temple. After asking his wellbeing she invited him for lunch, but Gorakhnath politely and respectfully answered that he had the hunger to meet the devi which is now satisfied.

The devi replied that the hunger for sight is satisfied by the sight and the hunger for food is satisfied by the food. If you have any other problem then we will find the solution for it. Listening that Gorakh said-

Inspite of being aware of all the facts if you  want to know the reason for my refusal to your invitation then it is just because for a yogi to maintain physical and spiritual purity is the most important factor. In this situation if I accept your food our purity will keep leaving us. I will urge you not to accept such sacrifice of animals.

Devi in the form of Jwala

Devi replied- People for their tongue's taste have started this custom. I too not like such king of sacrifices.

Mother: Your invitation is whole heatedly welcomed and accepted  my me. I wish to have Khichadi. In this process we will use water from your place and I'll beg for some rice. Just heaty a small amount of water in a pot and I'll beg some rice.

As you wish the Mata replied. In the time you will beg for rice I can heat the whole mountain.

as the water will be warmed I'll be here Devi. saying this Gorakhnath left the shrine and roamed around in various places.

On the other hand Devi inspite of heating the water, she decided to heat a small part of water. For this she burnt small flames around that part. Soon the water began to boil but the water was not hot. The water was never warm and Gorakh nath never returned. Same is the situation today also. Due to this reason only the place is famous by Gorakh Diddi. Since then, along with Jwalamukhi Gorakhnath and Matsaindrenath are also worsiped here. Gorakh Nath is known to be Matsaindre Nath's disciple. In ancient books both of them are remembered together.
