HISTORY OF MATA VAISHNO DEVI This story is about 700 years old. It is related with a village HANSALI. It is related to Pandit Shridharji he was a true devote of the Goddess and performed her Puja regularly. He did not have any child so he was very sad. He prayed to the Goddess for a child, the Goddess was impressed by his dedication and once she appeared in the form of a Small Girl. He was making preparations for Puja of the small girls. The Goddess came as one of them. Pandit Shridharji washed their feet before offering them food. He saw The Small Girl who was the Goddess herself. All the devotees were surprised because they never saw this Girl before and she did not seem to be from their village. The other girls went off after receiving DAKSHINA but this Girl remained there. Shridharji asked her some question so she reply I have come to you for some important work. All the devotees were surprised. She said to Shridharji that he should arrange for a great BHANDRA. She disappeared after saying this. Shridharji could not understand what was happening. He went to his village and informed every one about this BHANDRA. He invited every one. On his way he saw a group of Sadhus and he invited them also. One of the Sadhu Gorakhnath said that he was making a great mistake by Inviting him, Bhaironath and their group of 360 Sadhus. It is not possible for even Lord Indra to Invite them. Shridharji then inform him about this small girl who appeared before him. Gorakhnath thought who is this Girl who can feed so many people. He said to Shridharji they have accepted his invitation. |

On the day of Bhandra Shridharji was
worried as to how he will make all arrangements to feed so many people. The Girl
appeared and made all arrangements. When the Sadhus along with Gorakhnath and
Bhaironath came Shridhar welcomed them and requested them to come into his small
house and sit there. They said they can't come in and relax as his house was
small but when they came in all of them fitted in his house comfortably. The
Small Girl started making the food in a different utensil and started serving
every one. All of them were surprised.
When Gorakhnath and Bhaironath saw this they discussed amongst themselves and said this small girl has some special powers. Who is she? We most find out. When the small girl came to serve them Bhairo said you have serve every one what ever dishes they liked but I like some thing else. What do you like? Asked the Small Girl I would like to have Wine and Meat. The goddess said this is a Brahmin's House and Bhandara is being held over here. You will get only those items which are made in a Pure Vaishno Bhandara (Vegetarian). Bhaironath did not agree. He decided to test the Goddess. The Goddess also came to know about his feelings. When Bhairo tried to catch the Goddess she disappeared. Bhairo saw through his Magic Powers that she was moving towards Trikuta Mountains. He followed her. She went to DARSHNI DARWARJA, BAAN GANGA, CHARAN PADUKA, ADI KUMARI where she did meditation for 9 months and took some rest. Bhairo reach there near this cave but when he reached the cave the Goddess killed him. Shridharji was worried when he did not see the small girl. He gave up food and water and started fasting. The Goddess came to know about it and she appeared before him and showed him about this Shrine. She told him about it in his dream. When he got up from sleep he was very happy. He started to find this place and finally he found it. He prayed to the Goddess and she gave him blessings that he will have four sons and his family will always pray at this Shrine. |
