Katra

This city is located at the Foot Hills of TRIKUTA MOUNTAINS and is on the path of progress. Bus service from Jammu is available upto this place only. The Distance from Jammu to Katra is about 2 hours journey. You have to travel by foot further. Travelers have to collect a Registration Slip from the Tourist Reception Centre near Katra Bus Stand. This slip is necessary if the traveler fails to collect this slip he has to return back from BAAN GANGA. This slip is issued free of Cost.
Temple of Deva Mai

About 4 kms. away from Jammu on this Katra Road is a Village Called NUMAI from NUMAI to DEVAMAI there is a small Sub-way. This place is called a second DARSHAN of the Godess Vaishno Devi. At this place there is a statue of the Godess and a small TRISHUL. When people came for PILGRIMAGE by foot this place had many visitors at Devamai. This place was named in remembrance of a Pujarin Mai Deva. She prayed to the Goddess regularly and with full devotion.
Bus Stand Katra

From this place the Journey by foot begins. There is a good market where you can get food, breakfast, snacks and necessary items. There is good facility to rest and stay to refresh yourself before the journey. There are 7 storey Rest Houses built by Shreedhar Sabha. Thousands of Devotees can stay here. There is Tourist Registration Centre where devotees register themselves before starting journey and they get a slip which is essential. If you do not have this slip you have to return from Baan Ganga. This slip is provided free of charge.
Shri Raghunath Mandir Katra

Shri Raghunath Mandir Katra. This temple is about half a kilometre away from Katra Bus Stand. This beautiful temple was built by Swami Nityanandji. There are statues of Shri Raghunathji and a 11 muns huge statue of Shri Hanumanji. There is temple of Lord Ashutosh and Samadhi of Swami Nityanandji. Travellers while going to Vaishno Devi Shrine Visit this Place.
Baan Ganga Temple

When Goddess Maha Shakti reached this spot in the form of a Small Girl she was accompanied by Hanumanji (Veer Langur). He felt thirsty when they reached here. The Goddess shot as arrow and created Ganga River water from Rocks and thus Langur Veerji had water. The Goddess washed her hair in this water so some people call this River Kesh Ganga. This spot is 2 Kms from Katra. There is a bridge to cross this river. There is a temple nearby. People take a dip in this holy river. The road by steps (Stair case) begins from her. The sub-way also begins here. Where you find Horses, Ponys & Mules. The upward road of Trikuta Montain begins here. When you cross Baan Ganga Bridge there is a temple in which there is a beautiful Statue of the Goddess. This place is 2800 feet above sea level. There is a check post to check the Registration Slip of the Travelers which they have received at Katra Bus Stand.

Charan Paduka Temple

At this place the Goddess looked behind to confirm if Bhairo was following her. She stopped here so her foot prints were marked so this spot is called Charan Paduka. It is located 1.5 kms. from Baan Ganga and at a height of 3380 feet above sea level. There is a temple and some shops of fruits and tea stalls. This is second stage of the Yatra.

Garbh Joon Adikumari

As  Goddess went ahead she met a Sadhu and she showed him her real form and she entered his narrow cave and did meditation for Nine Months. Bhairo then came looking for her. She struck her Trishul and made way ahead & moved out of the cave from the other end. The Sadhu told Bhairo that she is not an ordinary small girl but the most powerful Goddess Adi Kumari (i.e. since the formation of the universe this Goddess is completely pure and has decided to remain unmarried). When Bhairo heard this he got mad with anger. He said that I will find her and he entered the cave. In the meantime the Goddess moved out  the cave from the other end. This part is known as Adi Kumari or Garbh Yoni. This place is about 4800 feet above sea level.

Saanjhi Chhat

The yatris reach Saanjhi Chhat after climbing the Haathi Mathha. This place is also called Delhi Wali Chabil. Once you reach this spot the road to the shrine is either straight or downward . The climbing process is upto this spot only. There are good facilities for Tea and Snacks and there are Rest Houses over here. The scene from this spot is really beautiful. The place is about 2.5 kms. from Adi Kumari and is at a height of 6500 feet above sea level.

Bhawan Mata Vaishno Devi

At the entrance of the cave there is a Temple or Bhawan. At the end of the cave you can see the Holy Pindies. At a time 5-6 people can sit over here. It is difficult to stand at this place the Goddess is in the form of Three Pindies (i.e. Maha Kali Maha Luxmi & Maha Saraswati). Near the Pindies is the Holy Jyoti of the Goddess. In the morning and Evening these Pindies are Bathed, Decorated  & Puja and Aarti takes place. The yatris offer the Coconuts and other Puja Material over here. At this place yatris get their Wishes Fulfilled which they have asked for with full devotion. This place is 5200 feet above sea level.

Bhairo Mandir

While returning from Vaishno Devi shrine the yatris visit Bhairo Baba Temple. They travel about ½ km. and then they reach a Small subway  which leads to this temple. There is also a stair way to this Temple. It is said that if yatris do not visit this Temple their pilgrimage (yatra) is incomplete. It is 2.5 Kms. from the Shrine and about 6583 feet above sea level.
